FP: An Ode to Colt & Yoder

"Taking a look closer at what Todd Yoder can do for a team is more impressive than Megan Fox's ass"

"Yoder takes the same hit Lawerence Taylor put on Theisman while simultanously chewing up a beer bottle and he still has the wherewithal to piss on my broken ankle."

I wish I could take credit for the above quotations (and misspellings) but those belong to Chris Cooley. It was part of a post that he wrote last year when Yoder was stepping in to play fullback for an injured Mike Sellers. Yodes was a major role player in The Cooley Zone blog, often appearing in videos, was the subject of a few posts and also wrote several posts for the site.

Colt Brennan was also a big star on this blog. Colt also contributed to the site by writing posts and appearing in several funny videos. Here's a quote from one of Colt's post on the blog:

"My name is Colt Brennan. I'm a 6th round rookie QB, grew up in So Cal, played college ball in Hawaii, so I’d say I am a pretty laid back kind of guy. I wonder if they took that into consideration when they decided to issue lockers? Considering they saw fit to put me between Chris Cooley and Jason Taylor. At first you may think, "what an awesome experience," I get to be between two pro bowlers, potential hall of famers, dancers. Every day. For the next 5 months. What dream right? More like what a nightmare."

Colt and Yodes are now gone and they will be missed. To me, their Redskins careers won't be measured by statistics, their legends will continue to live on because of this blog, a near perfect pre-season game and excellent special teams play. It will live on fighting bees and imitating Eli Manning.

Below are links to the posts and videos that Colt and Yodes were a part of, I hope the best for both of them...thanks for the memories.

CB 5: That's a "gay" pick revisited

What up everyone, wanted to say thank you for the great response from my first blog entry. I really appreciate the ideas, and thoughts, and please keep them coming, I’m half way through the season, and I need plenty more ammo to fend off these punk veterans. This week is obviously a big one. My first real Monday Night Football game, against the Pittsburg Steelers and to be honest, I think I’m more excited for this game than any other game this year. With a week off after Monday’s game, I have a feeling our team is going to come out ballin’, and we need to cause Pittsburg ain’t no joke. Plus, I need a vacation. I haven’t had one since I took 5 days off after the Sugar Bowl before getting ready for the draft. Then it was the Senior Bowl, combine, pro day, surgery, and then all summer practicing and rehab. So...I think you get the point.

But in light of this week’s game, I’ve been put in an interesting position regarding my fantasy football team. I have Phillip Rivers at QB but, since he has a bye and my backup, Ben Roethlisberger, plays against my defense, the Redskins, I don’t know what to do. Umm...sorry Big Ben, I got mad respect, but I go against this defense everyday, and I haven’t seen a QB this year have a good day against them. So I think I will have to go with a free agent, Kyle Orton. Ball out for me man.

Well that was easy, but I haven’t even come close to the point of this post. See, Chris Cooley’s Fantasy Football Video was a bit hit. While you people loved it, I began to experience some negative backlash after the video was posted. Maybe its cause people have a tendency to be naive, or sometimes we see things at face value instead of seeing the overall picture. For instance how many of you have come up to me and said, “You’re not very good at fantasy football are you?” Why, cause the power of editing, and a premature comment gave everyone the wrong impression?

As I remember it, I said, “I’ll take Lendale White,” and Chris replied, “That’s a gay pick.” But what you don't see was when that actually happened...in the 6th round, not the 1st. So while you all were probably watching, laughing, and saying, “Yea, what a gay pick Colt. You’re so funny Chris. We love you.” Please!!! The power of editing a video can be very misleading and my first pick in the draft was actually Randy Moss. Plus, Lendale has the 3rd most fantasy points by a RB, so maybe it would have been smart to grab him in round 1. Now let me ask you this, is my pick gay now Chris?

Look folks I’ve been playing tackle football since 4th grade, never missed a year. I love this game, I really do, but a great lesson needs to be learned from our fantasy football video. When it comes to the media, don’t always believe what you see. I’m not even sure if I’m even doing well in Chris’s league, but I do know this, Lendale White is carrying me regardless. So I’ll end this post with the infamous words of Good Will Hunting… Chris, do you like apples? Lendale White is better than all three backs on your team… how do you like them apples?????

CB 5: Life with Jason Taylor

This post is a lot like that TV show on MTV. The one where they say, “You think you know…but you have no idea” and in this case, you have no idea. My name is Colt Brennan. More like what a nightmare.

Chris (considering this will be posted on your blog) you’re a cool guy and it’s been pretty fun easing my way into the NFL watching you on a day-to-day basis. You make everyday a little different. But you’ve also made everyday for me a nightmare...

It all started when Jason decided to be tough guy on me one day, warning if I ever got in his way, or touched any of his stuff he would, "beat my ass.” Following this encounter something happened that soon became an everyday event. At first it was funny, but it eventually became a huge pain in my ass. Whenever Chris got his chance, he would do something. For example: he would take a fresh pair of Jason’s Jordan’s (probably sent directly by Michael Jordan) and hide them in my locker. Or maybe take all my dirty laundry and stack it high in front of Jason’s locker. Or better yet, being the great artist Chris is, he drew cartoons (depicting Jason doing… things not meant for children) and taped them on Jason's locker. In the end, who got blamed for it all? I did. Some stuff he probably actually believed was me, and some stuff he knew that I had played no part in any of it yet still tried to give me the blame. Why? Because he started to gain a lot of enjoyment by seeing me in agony.

Chris then started to lose interest, and he wouldn’t try so hard to implicate me into screwing with Jason, yet things kept happening. Like stolen shoes and computer print outs (that didn’t make Jason look so manly) and Jason began retaliating. All of the sudden I’d find my clothes and stuff piled far from my locker in the middle of the room. I began coming to my locker and seeing white tape out lining the boundaries where I was allowed to go (of course the space was not even reasonable), but that didn’t matter. At this point I suspected that Jason was actually messing with his own stuff just to find reason, to mess with me. Like wrapping my helmet up in tape or dismantling it, just to be a pain. Perhaps his best feat was lacing my helmet and visor with Vaseline, which meant I spent the practice in a slippery helmet and no visor, because I couldn’t see out of it (the Vaseline took forever to wipe off).

So thus, this has been my life for the past couple months, and I’ve come to realize what I am this year, and what maybe a lot of rookies are across the league. I’m their pawn, which they maneuver for their pure enjoyment! But don’t worry all you people out there, this past week, I cut Jason’s shoelace on his custom Jordan cleats. I did it discretely, so when Jason put his cleats on Friday and made his way to the practice field, he leaned down to tighten his shoe, he pulled tight, and. POP! There went his shoelace. They [equipment staff] had to run and get some new shoes for him to wear at practice that day, and at first he thought it was just a random occurrence. Well when he finally looked around and saw an out of the ordinary number of eyes watching and smiling, he knew something was up. He Blamed Chris!!

Bonaroti

A great tradition began three years ago. Ristorante Bonaroti is what I consider the best resturant in the entire DC/Virgina area. Wait, really if I think about it my favorite resturante of all time. In just three years I have so many great memories there. The owner Sergio and his wife Noel are two of the best people I have ever been around.

So anyways, back to the tradition. For the last three years we have been eating there before every home game. It's always been Yoder and I, sometimes we incorporate some different faces (Colt Brennan tonight), but me and Yodes have never missed.
I even have my own appetizer on the menu, unbelievable by the way - buffalo mozerella wrapped in dry aged filet minon. It's called brezola, really I don't know if that's how you spell brezola, and I can't ever pronounce it right, but it's damn good!
Although I am listed on the menu, I haven't actually ordered from it in over two years. When Yoder and I show up, we just ask Serg whats the best thing we could order and he hooks it up every time. Tonight I went spaghetti, best spaghetti in the world, and I'm counting on the energy in the heat tomorrow. Bonaroti's never fails!

20 Questions Colt Brennan and Boozie

Picking out questions asked by everyone on this blog has got to be my favorite part of the website experiment. This time was as good as any and thank everyone who was creative in their questions. We received so many great questions for all kinds of different players so I feel like I need to break up the answer blogs into different sections.

Colt Brennan or as we call him McGarrett (the lead detective from Hawaii five -0) was very popular as far as questions go and after his great performance is generating even more interest, so we will start with McGarrett. I spent about 15 minutes with the couple of rookies in their room Saturday night before the game to ask them some of the questions. Enjoy. And by the way Fred Davis (Boozie) is changing his name from Chocolate Thunder to The Chocolate Assassin. Watch the movie, you'll get it. This is also the first our video blog for Comcast so please tell us what you think about it.
